Where most fitted joinery is engineered board under a sprayed finish, timber joinery puts solid timber where the board would be: a staircase, a pair of entry doors, a window seat, a home bar, a wine cellar, or the shelves and facings of a built-in wall. Each piece is measured on site and installed by our own crew.
What can be made as timber joinery?
Stairs, entry doors, window seats, home bars and cellars, as well as vanities and wall units. The Terrigal Staircase is a straight flight fitted against a wall, with step lights set into it. The Balmain and Paddington are double entry doors under glazed transoms, the Balmain with a full-height glazed side panel. The Clovelly Window Seat Cabinet follows a bay window in Tasmanian Oak, and the Avalon Home Bar pairs a counter of diamond wine bins with a bottle shelf.
A built-in wall unit can pair solid timber with veneer. The Avignon library wall has solid Tasmanian Oak facings and lippings over a Tasmanian Oak veneered carcass, and the Barossa media wall has solid American Oak tops, shelves and facings. The Meadowfield Timber Vanity is Tasmanian Blackwood.

Can you build a wine cellar in timber?
Yes. The Beaumont Cellar is made in Tasmanian Oak, and the Cremorne Under-Stair Cellar fills the space under a staircase with glazed doors, bottle racks and diamond bins. Yours is drawn to the space you have.
Which timbers can I choose?
American Walnut, Tasmanian Oak, Spotted Gum, Blackbutt, American Oak, Tasmanian Blackwood and Jarrah can all be ordered in for a commission, and we can source timbers beyond those.
The timber is yours to choose on every job, along with its size, layout and finish. That holds for a kitchen or a wardrobe too: we build those in engineered board with a 2-pack finish as standard, and either can be made in timber instead.
How long does custom timber joinery take?
The staircase, entry doors, window seat and home bar in the collection are each listed at 8–14 weeks, made to order; for a larger fitted job, your quote confirms the lead time.
Questions about solid timber.
- Does the warranty cover solid timber moving?
- No. Normal movement in solid timber is excluded, along with wear, water, heat and impact. The ten-year craftsmanship warranty is for faults in how we built it.
- What finish does timber joinery have?
- Every vanity and built-in leaves the workshop in two-pack polyurethane, solid timber included. For a staircase, a pair of entry doors or a home bar, you choose the finish with the timber at the design consult.
- Can the finish be a colour rather than clear?
- Yes. The Avignon is listed in a satin white two-pack and the Barossa in a walnut-tone matt, both with colour-matching available.
