A built-in home office is a desk and its storage, drawn together and fitted to one wall: the shelves, bookcases and cupboards around it. Goldenwood designs and makes it in Wetherill Park, Sydney, and its own crew measures the room and installs the joinery.
Which layout suits your study?
It depends on the wall. A long, straight wall can take a library wall: the Regent Library Wall fills 3,000 mm as drawn, and its centre bay is set up for work, with bi-fold doors that close across the screen, a keyboard shelf that slides away and a cable pass-through and power cavity behind it for the leads.
A corner suits an L-shaped desk such as the Epping, which works along both walls and keeps its storage over and under the desktop, out of the way of your chair. Where the study shares a room and the wall should stay light, the Hurstville keeps to a desk and a single cabinet hung above it.

What is home office joinery made from?
As standard, built-in joinery is engineered board sprayed in a two-pack paint or polyurethane finish. A study can mix it with timber: the Kanso Workstation Suite is drawn with a Tasmanian Oak desktop and open shelving, and white painted drawers and overhead cupboards.
None of the designs is fixed. The width follows your wall or alcove, the layout follows what you store and how you work, and the timber and finish are your choice: any part can be made in any timber on the materials page.
How does a built-in study get made?
The wall is drawn in 3D and agreed with you before the first cut; every step, from the first consult to the install, is set out on the custom furniture page.
How long does a home office take to make?
The quote states it. A fitted home office is joinery, so its lead time depends on the size of the wall, the timber and how busy the workshop is. A freestanding desk or bookcase from the collection usually ships 8–14 weeks after the design is confirmed.

- Built in, if the room will stay a study and you want the desk and its storage as one piece of joinery, fitted by Goldenwood's own crew. Freestanding, if the desk may move rooms with you: Goldenwood makes those in solid timber, and the desks page covers them.
- Can you fit a study nook into an alcove?
- Yes. The desk and shelves are drawn to the nook's own measurements, taken in the room.
- Can the home office match the rest of the house?
- Yes. Joinery and furniture can be drawn together, so a study wall can share its timber and finish with the wardrobes, the kitchen or a living-room wall unit.
- Do you make home office furniture beyond the desk?
- Yes: bookcases, wall units and display cabinets, either as freestanding pieces or built in floor to ceiling around the desk.
- Can I see the timbers and finishes first?
- Yes. Walk into the Wetherill Park showroom any day between 9:30am and 5:30pm, no booking needed; it keeps sample boards of every working timber and finish.
